BLOG: 2 New Useful Mobile Apps for Journalists

For our teaching moment we decided to look into two mobile apps that are making it easier it for us as journalists.

The first is BigVU a teleprompter-like service where you can input text into the app and recored yourself through the front camera reading the text like a teleprompter. This app is absolutely awesome for teasers and stories (both Instagram and Snapchat).

What's cool about this app as well is the pro version which allows the addition of lower third text, audio boosting techniques and different video landscapes.

I think for reporting live in the field this is a perfect app because the teleprompter functionality is life-saving. I can't begin to tell how many times I've had to reshoot standups in the field because of messing up what I was going to say. This app solves all those issues.

Our other we found is Tape-A-Call which is an app that allows you to tape phone calls for record. This app is super helpful for transcribing later on.

Plus the quality is great and there's only a one-time price for the app at 10$. I think as a professional it's definitely worth the purchase, especially if you make numerous phone call interviews.
