While the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots played on Sunday night to determine the most dominant team in pro football, it was Justin Timberlake who won the evening in my heart (and many Americans alike). Fresh off his album Man of the Woods which dropped literal days before his epic performance, Timberlake impressed the many with his mix of new songs with classic throwbacks.
After opening with "Filthy" (his lead single from the new album), JT wove through classics like "Sexy Back," "Cry Me a River" and so many more as he hopped around stages across the field.
However, it was Timberlake's tribute to legendary Prince that made the most memorable part of the performance for me. With a giant projection of Prince erected in one end zone, Timberlake elegantly carried out a moving performance of "I Would Die 4 U."
I actually haven't seen a more beautiful moment in music in a while until I saw the entire city of Minneapolis light up purple, at least for a couple minutes.
Plus, it wouldn't be right of me to not touch upon JT's stellar fashion during the performance, as he executed the camo look and bandana to perfection while rocking his limited edition Nike Jordan sneaker that released very limitedly right after halftime.
Overall, Timberlake has thrusted himself back into the limelight after his massive performance, and deservedly so. He is indeed a master at his craft and he left all of us smiling with one of the better halftime shows in recent memory.
